Brandon F. Johnson is the Executive Director of the
Washington Park Consortium, a non-profit dedicated to the development and
service of the Washington Park community.
Mr. Johnson specializes in public policy and urban development in the
global context. Before becoming Executive Director of the Consortium, Mr.
Johnson was a principal with Catalyst Global Strategies, project manager for
�Reconnecting Neighborhoods� with the Metropolitan Planning Council, and served
the Illinois General Assembly under the leadership of Senate President Emil
Jones, Jr.
Mr. Johnson works with the Washington Park Community to
contextualize their issues, develop programming and facilitate actionable
planning processes. Mr. Johnson has a sincere belief that cooperation and
consensus are achievable and preferable. Always assessing policy through the
lenses of politics and culture, Mr. Johnson works to translate policy decisions
in terms of mutual benefit to groups at odds or in need. His projects have covered
Energy and Environment, Transportation and Transit Oriented Development,
Affordable Housing, Public Private Partnerships, Community Benefits Agreements,
Urban Agriculture, Education, Youth Engagement, Civic Literacy, and Institution
Building.
A social scientist by
training, Mr. Johnson was educated at Morehouse College, the University of
Chicago and is currently studying Law at DePaul University. Mr. Johnson is a board member of the KLEO
Community Center, member of the Illinois Food Farms and Jobs Council, and a
former two-time member of the Kenwood Academy LSC.
